Johnson Controls Metasys trend export

Getting trend data out of Metasys as CSV: trend studies, the point list, and the file shape Energy Agent expects.

Where the data lives

Metasys keeps trends as trend extensions on objects, with a longer archive on the server. A trend study lets you view several trends together and export them. The names of the study and export tools differ by Metasys release; look for trend viewer, trend study or the export option on a trend chart. Your integrator’s documentation is authoritative.

Exporting

Build one trend study per equipment group, add the points from the checklist below, set the date range to the longest available (twelve months ideally), and export to CSV or Excel. If the export asks for a sampling interval, use the native interval or 15 minutes.

If a point has no trend extension, ask the integrator to add one at 5 to 15 minutes and to enable server archiving so the history persists.

  • Export the setpoints alongside the sensors; several rules compare the two.
  • Include status points for chillers, boilers, pumps and fans, not only analog values.
  • One file per equipment group is fine.

The file shape

One timestamp column, then one column per point. Put the unit in the header, for example "AHU-1 Supply Air Temp (F)" or "CHW-VLV (0-100)". Name each column with the equipment tag first so points from the same unit group together.

Metasys exports sometimes put the point’s full reference in the header. That is fine; Energy Agent reads the equipment tag and point name from it, but shorter names with units are easier to check.

You do not need to clean the file. Energy Agent checks timezone, gaps, duplicate timestamps, frozen channels and unit mismatches before any rule runs, and tells you what it found.

Send twelve months of interval data and a BAS trend export. Energy Agent returns a ranked list of what is wasting money, what each item is worth per year at your tariff, and what to do about it.
